What is Handelsregister?

The Handelsregister (German Commercial Register) is a public database maintained by local courts (Amtsgerichte) that records essential information about businesses and legal entities operating in Germany.

Tips for Effective Research

For best results, use the company’s registered name including legal form (e.g., “Example GmbH” rather than just “Example”).
If multiple companies share a similar name, include the city to narrow results: “Example GmbH, Munich.”
Be specific about what information you need: “managing directors,” “share capital,” “registered address,” etc.
