Chat Modes

The chat offers three modes for different tasks. Select your mode from the dropdown next to the input field. Mode selector showing Ask, Edit, and Auto options

Ask Questions

Use Ask mode to get answers without modifying your document.

Select Ask mode

Click the mode dropdown and select Ask.

Type your question

Enter your question in the input field. If your document is open, Libra has context about its content. Libra may suggest relevant questions based on your document. Click a suggestion to use it.Chat in Ask mode with input field

Review the answer

Libra responds with information based on your document and its knowledge.

Request Text Edits

Use Edit mode to request changes and review them before applying.

Select text (optional)

Choose Edit mode

Describe the change

Tell Libra what you want:
  • “Rewrite this in a more formal tone”
  • “Make this clause favor the landlord”
  • “Rewrite the employment contract into a part-time contract”

Review the suggestions

Apply or reject changes

For each change:
  • Click Apply to insert the revision
  • Click Reject to keep the original text

Review in your document

Enable Track Changes before applying edits. This lets you review changes in your document and easily accept or reject them later.

Use Research Mode

Access legal databases directly from the chat to get answers backed by authoritative sources.

Enable Research

Click the research icon (globe) in the input area to open the sources panel.Research icon in the chat input area

Select your sources

Toggle on the sources you want to search:
  • Verlag Dr. Otto Schmidt: Legal commentary and journals
  • Wolters Kluwer Online: Legal databases
  • German Case Law: Court decisions
  • Handelsregister: Company registry
  • Web Search: General web results

Ask your question

Submit your research question. Libra searches the selected sources and provides answers with citations.

Review citations

Click citations in the response to see the source material.

Tips for Better Results

When asking about a specific section, select that text first. Libra understands exactly what you’re referring to.
Instead of “Fix this,” try “Rewrite this paragraph to emphasize the buyer’s remedies if delivery is delayed.”
Enable Track Changes when applying edits. This integrates with your normal contract negotiation workflow.
Always review suggested changes before inserting them. Click Apply only after confirming the revision is correct.
