Account Your personal Libra profile, identified by your email address. Your account gives you access to Libra and stores your settings and preferences. You log in to your account with your email and password.Add-in A small program that adds features to existing software. Libra offers add-ins for Microsoft Word and Outlook that let you use Libra directly within those applications. See Word Add-in and Outlook Add-in.AI (Artificial Intelligence) Computer software that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as understanding language, answering questions, and analyzing documents. Libra uses AI to help with legal work. The AI reads your questions and documents, then generates helpful responses.Aktionsmodul A content module from Otto Schmidt. The Aktionsmodul Zivilrecht (civil law action module) is included with Libra subscriptions and provides access to Zöller, Erman, and other core commentaries. See Otto Schmidt.App / Application A software program. Libra is a web application, meaning you access it through your web browser (like Chrome or Safari) rather than installing it on your computer. You can also say “the Libra app” to mean the Libra website at app.libratech.ai.Assistant A configured AI helper with specific instructions, knowledge, and settings. Assistants can be personal, shared with colleagues, or selected from the library. See Introduction to Assistants.Attachment A file (like a PDF or Word document) that you add to a chat or email. In Libra, you can attach documents for the AI to read and analyze.AVV (Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag) A data processing agreement required under German law for service providers who process personal data on behalf of customers. Libra’s data processing agreement is integrated into our General Terms and Conditions. See GDPR Compliance.
Browser A program used to access websites on the internet. Common browsers include Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox. You use a browser to access Libra at app.libratech.ai.Button A clickable element on a screen that performs an action when you click or tap it. For example, the “Send” button submits your message to Libra.
Chat The primary interface for interacting with Libra. A chat is a conversation where you can ask questions, request analysis, and get assistance. See Chat Basics.Chatbot A computer program designed to have conversations with people. Libra is a chatbot specialized for legal work. You type questions or instructions, and the chatbot responds with helpful information.Citation A reference to a source that Libra consulted when providing an answer. Citations appear in Research Mode responses and link to the original material.Click To press and release a mouse button (or tap on a touchscreen) to select something or trigger an action. “Click the button” means move your mouse pointer over the button and press the left mouse button.Cloud A way of storing data and running software on remote servers accessed via the internet, rather than on your own computer. Libra runs “in the cloud,” meaning your data is stored securely on Libra’s servers and you can access it from any device with an internet connection.Column In Discovery, a column represents one piece of information to extract from each document (e.g., “Contract Value” or “Termination Notice Period”). See Discovery Templates.Context Information that helps the AI understand what you need. When you upload a document or provide background details, you are giving Libra context. More context usually leads to better answers.Copy and Paste A way to duplicate text or files. “Copy” saves a selection to your computer’s memory; “Paste” inserts it somewhere else. Use Ctrl+C (or Cmd+C on Mac) to copy and Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V) to paste.Criterion In Review, a criterion is one item to check or extract from a document (e.g., “Non-compete provisions present”). See Review Templates.Cursor The blinking vertical line that shows where text will appear when you type. Also refers to the mouse pointer on screen.
Dashboard A screen that shows an overview of important information at a glance. In Libra, your main screen shows recent chats, projects, and quick access to features.Database An organized collection of information stored electronically. In Research Mode, Libra searches legal databases containing court decisions, laws, and commentaries.Deep Thinking A Chat mode that gives Libra more time to reason through complex problems, resulting in more thorough analysis. See Chat modes.Discovery A feature for extracting and comparing information across multiple documents. Results appear in a table format. See Discovery Basics.Document Library A central location for storing documents you want to access across multiple chats and projects. See Document Library.Review A feature for systematically analyzing individual documents against defined criteria. See Review Basics.Download To copy a file from the internet or a cloud service to your computer. When you export a document from Libra, it downloads to your computer.Drag and Drop A way to move files by clicking on them, holding the mouse button, moving to a new location, and releasing. You can drag and drop files into Libra to upload them.
Encryption A security method that scrambles data so only authorized people can read it. Libra encrypts your data both when it is being sent over the internet and when it is stored on servers.Export The ability to download Libra outputs as Word, PDF, Excel, or other file formats.
File A digital document stored on a computer, like a Word document, PDF, or spreadsheet. You can upload files to Libra for analysis.File Format The type of a file, usually indicated by its extension (the letters after the dot in a filename). Common formats include .pdf (PDF documents), .docx (Word documents), and .xlsx (Excel spreadsheets).Folder A container for organizing files on your computer or in cloud storage. Similar to a physical folder that holds papers.
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) European Union law that protects personal data and privacy. Libra is fully GDPR-compliant. See GDPR Compliance.Generate When AI creates new text based on your instructions. For example, Libra generates responses to your questions or generates draft documents based on your requirements.
Hallucination When an AI generates information that sounds plausible but is incorrect or fabricated. Libra’s Research Mode reduces hallucinations by grounding responses in verified database sources.
Icon A small picture or symbol that represents a function or feature. For example, a magnifying glass icon usually means “search” and a paperclip icon means “attach file.”Input Field A box where you type text. The main input field in Libra is where you type your questions and instructions at the bottom of the chat.Internet Connection The link between your computer and the internet. Libra requires an active internet connection to work because it processes your requests on remote servers.ISO 27001 An international standard for information security management systems. Libra is ISO 27001 certified. See Certifications.
Jurisdiction In Research Mode, the legal system or country whose laws you want to research. Selecting a jurisdiction helps Libra focus on relevant sources (e.g., German law, Swiss law, EU law).
Knowledge Base A collection of information that an assistant can reference when answering questions. You can add documents to an assistant’s knowledge base to make it an expert on specific topics.
Large Language Model (LLM) The AI technology that powers Libra’s ability to understand and generate text. Libra uses models from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic.Link Text or an image you can click to go to another page or website. Links are often shown in blue and underlined. In Libra, citations include links to source documents.Log In / Login The process of accessing your account by entering your email and password. You log in to Libra at app.libratech.ai to start using it.Log Out / Logout The process of ending your session and signing out of your account. Always log out when using a shared computer.
Menu A list of options or commands. Clicking on a menu shows available actions you can take. In Libra, the sidebar contains menus for chats, projects, and settings.Model In AI, a model is the underlying system that processes your input and generates responses. Libra uses multiple AI models and automatically selects the best one for each task.
Notification An alert or message that informs you about something, like when a colleague shares a document with you or when a process completes.
Offline Not connected to the internet. Libra does not work offline; you need an internet connection to use it.Organization Your company or firm in Libra. All team members belong to the same organization and can share resources within it. See Team Management.Output The result that Libra produces - the text, analysis, or document it generates in response to your input.
Password A secret word or phrase used to verify your identity when logging in. Keep your password secure and do not share it with others.PDF (Portable Document Format) A file format that preserves document formatting across different devices and programs. PDFs are commonly used for contracts and official documents. You can upload PDFs to Libra for analysis.Placeholder A variable in a document template (like {{CLIENT_NAME}}) that can be automatically filled with information from a reference document. See Fill Placeholders.Playbook A document containing standard terms, positions, or guidelines that can be used for comparison when reviewing contracts.Privacy The protection of personal and confidential information. Libra is designed with strong privacy protections for legal work.Project An organizational unit in Libra for grouping related chats, documents, and assistants. See Projects.Prompt The text you enter to communicate with Libra - your questions, instructions, or requests.
Refresh To reload a web page to see the latest content. If Libra seems stuck, try refreshing your browser by pressing F5 or clicking the refresh button.Research Mode A feature that gives Libra access to legal databases and sources, providing answers with citations. See Research Mode.Response The answer or output that Libra provides after you ask a question or give an instruction.
Save To store your work so you do not lose it. In Libra, your chats are saved automatically.Scroll To move up or down through content that does not fit on one screen. Use your mouse wheel or the scroll bar on the right side of the window.Search To look for specific information. You can search your chat history in Libra using the search bar in the sidebar.Seat A user license in your Libra subscription. Each team member requires one seat. See Subscription & Billing.Server A powerful computer that stores data and runs applications for many users. Libra’s servers are located in Germany and process your requests securely.Session The time between when you log in and log out. Your session ends when you log out or after a period of inactivity.Settings Options you can adjust to customize how Libra works for you, such as language preferences or notification settings.Sidebar A panel on the left side of the screen that shows navigation options like your chats, projects, and assistants.Software Computer programs and applications. Libra is software designed to help with legal work.Source A database or content provider that Libra can search in Research Mode (e.g., Otto Schmidt, Schweizer Rechtsprechung, EUR-Lex).Subscription A payment plan that gives you ongoing access to Libra. Subscriptions are typically billed monthly or annually.
Tab A way to have multiple pages open in one browser window. Each tab shows a different page. You can have Libra open in one tab while working on other things in another tab.Template In Review or Discovery, a template is a reusable set of criteria or columns. Templates ensure consistent analysis across multiple reviews or discoveries.Text Field See “Input Field.” A box where you can type text.Toggle A switch that turns a feature on or off. Click a toggle to change its state. For example, you toggle Research Mode on to enable it.Track Changes Microsoft Word’s feature for showing revisions. The Word Add-in can insert suggestions using Track Changes. See Review Documents in Word.Training Data The information used to teach an AI model. Libra does not use your data to train AI models - your information stays private.Security Page Libra’s repository of security, compliance, and legal documentation, available at libratech.ai/security.
Upload To send a file from your computer to a website or cloud service. You upload documents to Libra by clicking the attachment button or dragging files into the chat.URL (Uniform Resource Locator) The address of a webpage, like app.libratech.ai. You type a URL into your browser’s address bar to visit a website.User A person who uses software. In Libra, each person with an account is a user.Username A name that identifies you in a system. In Libra, your email address serves as your username.
Verified Source A citation in Research Mode that links directly to a document in a legal database. Verified sources are more reliable than unverified references from the AI’s general knowledge. See Research Mode.Voice Input A way to enter text by speaking instead of typing. Libra can transcribe your speech into text. The microphone icon sits inside the chat input. See Chat basics.
Web Application Software that runs in a web browser rather than being installed on your computer. Libra is a web application - you access it through your browser at app.libratech.ai.Website A collection of pages on the internet. Libra’s website is at libratech.ai, and the application is at app.libratech.ai.Window A rectangular area on your screen that displays a program or document. You can have multiple windows open at once.Word Document A file created in Microsoft Word, with a .docx file extension. You can upload Word documents to Libra for analysis or use the Word Add-in to use Libra directly in Word.Workflow A sequence of assistants that work together on a task, where each assistant builds on the previous one’s output. See Creating a Workflow.Workspace Your personal area in Libra containing your chats, projects, assistants, and documents. Each user has their own workspace within their organization.
